I asked my Twitter friends what shows we should produce next at the Quick and Dirty Tips network. Here are the public responses I’ve received so far:
chegarner: Maybe it would be interesting to have a podcast about household tips/hints.
mlaurenhighfill: a podcast with tips for the job seeker might be helpful.
PGHMatt: Also ‘how to be a better husband’. You can hire @ccadenhead
PGHMatt: How about ‘how to get better service as a consumer’.
kellieparker: you missed my suggestion — my wife is an insurance agent, and we think home/auto/personal insurance is a good topic.
KaaSerpent: Or how ’bout a vidcast of how to do cool things with graphics apps? Nothing tied too closely to a specific app. Just general.
KaaSerpent: You could add an organization podcast. How/what to purge, how to categorize, storage options, etc.
cavcopy: Life tips, life coaching, that sort of thing
jeffreyproctor: What about creating/maintaining a healthy lifestyle? It could include food choices, activity, balance.
microcline: personal organization? Gardening? Cooking? Dog handling?
bhaelochon: Quick and dirty cooking or gardening tips would be neat-o.
dmMom: I’d love to be your Plant Person (or, you know, just hear it).
dinkycastjen: A cooking show would be great – short cuts to make good food!
One note to the many of you who suggested a productivity, organization, etc. podcast–we already have one, and it’s fantastic. Check out The Get-It-Done Guy if you haven’t already.
If you have more ideas, please add them to the comments below.
Ah, now I’m glad I didn’t Twitter my thoughts, because of course they ran to grammar questions I have. Didn’t even consider you were thinking network-wide. 😉 Ah, tunnel vision while editing my book.
Um, so, aside from craving the definitive word on awhile vs. a while, I’d love to see something along the lines of specific careers (lots of quick and dirty guides to… getting paid to write, being an actor, getting a realtor’s license, etc.) as well as anti-clutter/pro-Feng Shui quick and dirties.
Maybe one on producing your own podcast, growing your network, monetizing your existing fanbase… lots of li’l business transitioning to big business stuff. 😉
Thanks for asking!

Someone suggested life coaching. I know there are many websites that do ADD coaching. So many of them are text based. As an ADD person, I get much more information out of non distracting podcasts as opposed to a website that has 300 links to get basic question answered.
It may be too narrow for one of your shows, but I think there would be an audience. There are lots of coaches out there. I don’t have anyone I would necessarily recommend to be the host.
Quick and Dirty Math for Everyday Living!
Tricks for mental math used everyday like working with big numbers in your head, or how to calculate percent of something, or percent growth.
My guess is that you could create math-themed prodcasts aligned with topics from some of the other Q&D themes (grammar, sales, and greener living come to mind.)
Ya know, I’d love to be your Twitter friend so I could suggest this stuff, but no matter how many times I follow you, you never follow me back! Do I have virtual B.O. or something?

Thanks for the chance to respond in a comment. The 140 character limit on Twitter isn’t enough!
I’d like to suggest a show on communications. There’s a lot of territory to cover here; person-to-person communications, public speaking and presentations, communications in conflict, persuasive communications, and plenty more.
You tweeted: “Just start your Tweet with @grammargirl and I’ll see your suggestion.”
Wrong! You’ll only see my tweet with “@grammargirl” *IF* you’re following me.
Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions!
Kopper, I use http://search.twitter.com, so I do see all the messages directed at me.
Kevin, we just launched The Public Speaker on our website a few weeks ago. It will be on iTunes in another week or two. Great minds think alike!
Sarah, a math podcast is an idea we’ve been kicking around for a while now. It could happen!
I was going to also suggest “how to cook healthy” as a show but I went to the main site and found Nutrition Diva… cool. I also subscribed to the Public Speaker.
Keep ’em coming!
– Matt “PGHMatt”
For those of us from elsewhere on the planet, more global versions of Money Girl would certainly be welcome! Can’t wait for nutrition and speaking on iTunes! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for such a great podcast. Well your doing great and i know you already did an episode on text messaging well i was thinkin g maybe you can make an episode on instant messaging. Well thats all i have to say
